Company History

A decade and half of design development has resulted in a number
of specific advantages not to be found on other automated systems.

Operational advantages:

Mounting the arm behind the can moves the center of gravity back toward the front wheels which provides the best weight distribution thus reducing jarring and bouncing motions during cart pickup.(1)

Teflon guides and sealed roller bearings evenly distribute forces on the arm thus eliminating any vibration. (2)

The dump and slide cylinders are hydraulically cushioned thus eliminating shock loading. (3)

The cart pickup-dump-return cycle is smooth and efficient.

The advantages when working tight spaces:

Unlike an ASL which dumps the cart high off the ground, the Curotto arm dumps the cart low to the ground. This is important as when carts are overloaded the excess often spills before the cart can be dumped. (4)

The Curotto offset arm does not need to be extended first in order for the cart to be dumped. When working in tight spaces, such as narrow sidealleys, carts can be dumped by just grabbing and lifting straight up in an arc over to the dump position. Carts can be dumped within the distance between the truck's mirrors. (5)

Since the arm is located ahead of the front axle it has a "boom-like" action. The "boom-like" action combined with 60" of reach allows the operator to easily maneuver the grabber around parked vehicles and work in tight cul-de-sacs. (6)

The driver always has a direct sight-line to see what is being dumped. Not only is it easy to see and remove contaminants, but also if a cart slips from the grabbers it is easy and safe to recover. When a cart falls in the hopper of an ASL there is no safe way for an operator to climb in the hopper and retrieve it because of the packing blade. (7)

When the driver has to hand load larger bulky items such as appliances and furniture the low lift-over height makes it easy.
(8)

The gripper, although compact, is extremely versatile and can pickup carts in sizes ranging from 32 gal. to 106 gal.

Curotto is safer and more maneuverable than an ASL.

The Low Maintenance Advantage:

Curotto uses no complicated components or electronics. The simplicity of design has reduced the number of parts so that there are fewer components to break.

The rugged design insures a long service life of each component. (9 High strength arm)

When a lubrication point is hard to get at, it never gets greased. All of the lubrication points on a Curotto Can are easy to see and grease. (10)

Hydraulic routing is simple and well protected. (11)

Maintenance costs for the Curotto Can are much lower than an ASL.
